Following installation of the ridge tiles, the main roof construction is now complete, leaving only the join between the new and the old rooflines, and the guttering and downpipes to be added.
We made a deliberate decision to retain the open internal roof structure and photos show the imposing wooden beams. Insulation and plasterboard is to be added underneath the tiles but the open structure is looking great!
Completion of the roof has meant that most of the scaffolding has now been removed and Conrad has started the installation of the double-glazed windows and the new front door. As mentioned in an earlier post, we decided to reinstate the original front door at the Church Street end of the building, although this door will now open into a small lobby for coats etc, with another door into the main part of the Hall. If we have to continue with social distancing, this will help to provide a one-way system with the exit at the far end of the building.
