With the basic roof timbers now in place, four more courses of brickwork have been added to the walls to bring them up to the underside of the woodwork, and the gable at the Church Street end of the building has been constructed in blockwork. These blocks will be rendered and a half-timbered gable end will restore the original appearance of the building. Conrad is going to re-use timbers salvaged from the original structure for this, so that the new building will still retain some of the history of the old.
In addition fascia boards have been added, the entire surface has been felted and battened, and tiling has started. It is hoped to finish this next week, so that the scaffolding can be removed, the windows and doors can be installed, and work can start on the internals.
